And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
Reminds me of the first home I bought. It was in California and had a pool It was an older home needing a bit of work but I was getting transferred to another duty location and needed to sell it. So I was pretty anxious I finally had a very interested buyer. As the realtor took them out to the backyard to show them all the pretty fruit trees planted at the corners of the yard I backed up to point at the solar pool heater, only to step backwards into the pool. I think they felt sorry for me and bought the house.
